Lolo is an unincorporated community south of Missoula with 4,399 people at the 2020 census, up from 3,892 in 2010. It sits where Lolo Creek meets the Bitterroot River, about 10 miles from Missoula along US-12.

Travelers' Rest

Lolo is home to Travelers' Rest State Park, where the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped in September 1805 and again in 1806. The town also sits at the eastern end of the Lolo Trail, today's US-12, which crosses Lolo Pass at the Idaho line 33 miles west. In 2017 the Lolo Peak Fire burned thousands of acres southwest of town.
